Many things go into enriching the life of a community, and not the least of those things is the arts. Tuscaloosa is no different; plenty of events and venues dedicated to the arts have been created and are well supported by the government, organizations, and individuals. Now that you've chosen a house from Tuscaloosa homes for sale, you're part of the community and may want to look for ways to get involved with and support the arts locally.

Here's a quick look at some of the most likely venues for artistic expression and involvement in Tuscaloosa, as compiled by our real estate agents.

  1. First Friday Art Walk, sponsored by the Tuscaloosa Arts Council. Downtown Tuscaloosa
The Tuscaloosa Arts Council encompasses many artistic and cultural endeavors, including theater, art exhibitions, music, kids' programs, and more. One of the foremost endeavors sponsored by the Arts Council is the monthly First Friday Art Walk. It's a terrific opportunity to walk downtown Tuscaloosa and drop in at local galleries and coffee shops. You can also visit some unique shops and sample the fare of downtown restaurants as part of your evening out. Visit the website for a map and a list of participants.

  2. Kentuck Art Center and Festival. Kentuck Park, Northport, Alabama.
You're going to want to plan a visit to Northport. It's a quick 5-minute drive from Tuscaloosa. Your destination is the Kentuck Art Center and Festival. Kentuck is an arts and culture experience with a 50-year tradition behind it. Designed to promote art to underserved communities, Kentuck also hosts a vibrant art festival set for October 14-15. The festival, which was started as a way to celebrate "ways of yore," is now an important venue for artists to show off and sell their work. Kentuck also operates four galleries, which include carefully curated, cross-cultural exhibits.

  3. Canvas and Crafts Studio. 2008 Paul W. Bryant Drive, Suite A, Tuscaloosa
If you've dreamed of being artsy and craftsy, but you're not sure how to start, Canvas and Crafts Studio will show you the way.
