As summer winds down, it's a great time to take advantage of the nice sunny weather. Here are the local attractions to make it a great close to the season.

Tuscaloosa is a very active community all year long. When summer starts to wind down, most people look for activities they can still enjoy with their families. Being outside in Alabama during the fall means comfortable temperatures and a lot of different types of activities to enjoy. A game of football with your friends in the park or hiking the natural trails is always fun and a great way to spend an afternoon. Our real estate agents can provide you with a long list of things you can do to wrap up your summer.

  • CHOM/Children's Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa – The Children's Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa offers children of all ages the opportunity to explore their world and learn as much as they can during a very immersive experience. Kids are able to play and learn at the same time. This makes education fun and exciting. The museum hosts a variety of activities throughout the year and encourages families to visit and learn about their world together.

  • Alabama Museum of Natural HistoryThe Alabama Museum of Natural History is one of many museums associated with the University of Alabama. Exploration, adventure, and discovery are all part of the plan when you visit the museum. Exhibits showcase many of Alabama's most unique natural features as well as a detailed history of environments found throughout the south. From ancient fossils to finding new ways to protect the environment, everyone can learn something from the museum.

  • Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion – The Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion is more than just a beautiful Civil War-era home. Completed in 1862, it was a home of many firsts. It was the first to have a bathtub and working toilet installed inside the home. As the home of a prominent state senator, it was also the host of many lavish gatherings of local and state politicians. Although there aren't many Tuscaloosa homes for sale that are as large as the mansion, many are just as beautiful.

  • The RiverwalkThe Tuscaloosa Riverwalk is one of the most scenic areas in the city. The current length of the Riverwalk is approximately four and a half miles. It is currently being expanded to include additional areas of interest. There is plenty of available parking and the entire park is dog-friendly. There is a playground, benches, and even a few hammocks if you decide you need to take a short break.

  • Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority – If you love spending time outdoors, the Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority has something for you to enjoy. From the many soccer fields to the archery park, there are a variety of athletic programs for everyone to enjoy no matter what their skill level may be. There are trails to enjoy and a lot of outdoor activities you can sign up for. Become a PARA member and enjoy several exciting perks.

  • The Art Walk/First Friday – The Arts Council is dedicated to keeping the arts and entertainment industry alive and flourishing in Tuscaloosa. The organization manages both the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center and the beautiful Bama Theatre. They also host the local First Friday event as a way to keep local residents in the know about what is going on in downtown Tuscaloosa.

Living in Tuscaloosa offers a taste of what Southern hospitality is really like. It's a bigger city that never really outgrew the small-town values and hometown pride that is lost when a community begins to push out against its boundaries. If you need help finding a new home in the area, contact our office. We will be more than happy to help you find exactly what you are looking for!
