Located on the University of Alabama Campus just minutes from many Tuscaloosa homes for sale, the pool complex is open until 6 pm daily during the warmer months and includes a kiddie pool, lazy river, water slide, and splash pad in addition to the main pool area. Guest passes are just $10 per person, and use of the pool is free with Student Recreation Center Memberships.

A charming suburban park in West Tuscaloosa, Palmore Park, attracts folks from all over the city who want to relax and take a dip. Palmore Park is best known as the home of the Harrison Taylor Splash Pad, which is a perfect family-friendly place where kids can play and splash around while parents chill under the shady beach umbrellas nearby. Use of the splash pad is $6 per day (kids 3 and under are free). Palmore Park also includes a skate park and disc golf course.

Rocky Branch Day Use Area is a beautiful wooded area crisscrossed by hiking trails, with picnic areas, a roped-off swimming beach, and a shady campground nearby. The beach is located at the point where Rocky Branch Creek meets Holt Lake, a long, meandering reservoir on the Black Warrior River. It's just 25 minutes from Downtown Tuscaloosa, and it's a popular place to swim from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

One of the best indoor pools in Tuscaloosa, Freeman Pool is a welcoming public pool in Freeman Park. Though the pool is used for various swim groups and events most days of the week, it is open for free public use every Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm during summer. The pool can also be booked for private events and groups by reservation.

The wooded shoreline of 220-acre Harris Lake is almost entirely undeveloped, making this picturesque man-made lake a beautiful place to enjoy some water-based recreation in a natural setting.
